The Nokia IP650 delivers carrier-class performance that meets the needs of managed service providers and large enterprise networks . A complete network device, the IP650 supports a comprehensive suite of IP-routing functions and protocols, including RIPv1/RIPv2, IGRP, OSPF and BGP4 for Unicast traffic, and DVMRP for multicast traffic. Its integrated router functionality eliminates the need for separate Intranet and access routers in security applications.
Featuring front
access and five standard Compact PCI I/O slots for interface cards, the rack-mountable IP650 is 19"
wide and 2RU high. A variety of connectivity options are available - high-density 10/100 Ethernet,
high-speed ATM or HSSI, and wide area network interfaces such as V.35/X.21 and T-1.
To provide maximum uptime for mission-critical implementations, the IP650 features hot-swappable components such as interface cards and fan trays, which can be removed and replaced without taking down the entire network. You can also add an optional redundant, hot-swappable power supply, making the IP650 a truly fault-tolerant security appliance. It further improves network availability by implementing Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) and Firewall-1 synchronization - permitting redundant configurations with active load-sharing.
The Nokia Voyager user interface simplifies ongoing maintenance by monitoring the status of all subsystems. It provides fully centralized remote-management functionality through any standard Web browser. Command-line access via Telnet or a standard SNMP interface are also supported.
Rapid deployment is key to mission-critical applications and large network installations. Every necessary
piece of hardware and software on the Nokia IP650 is pre-installed at the factory, allowing for true
plug-and-play implementation.
